PeerShelf Privacy Notice
Last updated April 18, 2026
This notice explains what information PeerShelf collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how you can access, correct, delete, or export it. It is written for users in the United States and Europe, including users who may have rights under the GDPR and state privacy laws.
What We Collect and Why
Account and authentication data
Email address, encrypted authentication credentials handled by Supabase, third-party login identifiers, and legal consent timestamps so we can create and secure your account.
Profile and location data
Full name, avatar URL, address fields, geocoded location, plan tier, preferences, and related account settings so your shelves, search, and local discovery features work correctly.
Inventory and community content
Shelf names, item photos, descriptions, categories, conditions, prices, tags, visibility choices, borrowing records, listings, and yard sale content so you can manage and share inventory.
Messages and inquiry data
Offer messages, agreement messages, guest inquiries, names, phone numbers, and transaction notes so users can coordinate pickups, returns, questions, and exchanges.
Billing, promo, and usage data
Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan status, promo redemptions, and product usage events so we can operate paid plans, prevent abuse, and measure service usage.
Why We Process Personal Data
We use personal data to provide the service you request, authenticate accounts, display shelves and listings, support lending and sales workflows, process subscriptions, answer support requests, improve reliability, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Where GDPR applies, our main legal bases are contract performance, legitimate interests, consent, and compliance with legal obligations.
How Long We Keep Information
Account, profile, shelf, and item data: kept while your account is active and normally deleted or de-identified after account deletion, subject to limited backup retention.
Messages, agreements, listings, and transaction records: generally kept until account deletion or longer if needed to resolve disputes, enforce terms, or comply with law.
Usage and security logs: generally kept for up to 12 months unless we need them longer for fraud prevention, service reliability, or incident response.
Billing, tax, and payment support records: may be kept for up to 7 years where accounting, tax, chargeback, or legal obligations require it.
Sharing and Service Providers
We share information with service providers that help us run PeerShelf, including hosting, authentication, mapping, and payment providers such as Supabase, OpenStreetMap geocoding services, and Stripe. We do not describe PeerShelf as selling personal information or sharing it for cross-context behavioral advertising in this product flow.
